1. Controller

Responsible for data processing on this website:

Dr. Güven Korkut

Berlin Independent Council for Social Sciences (BICSS), in formation

Rungiusstraße 9, 12347 Berlin, Germany

Email: [email protected]

2. General

This website is a static site. It sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking, embeds no third-party fonts, scripts or media, and contains no web forms. Personal data is processed only in the two cases described below.

3. Hosting and server log data

This website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA (in the EU represented by Cloudflare Germany GmbH). When you access the site, Cloudflare technically requires and briefly stores connection data (IP address, date and time of the request, browser type and version, referrer URL) in server logs. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the secure and reliable operation of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare acts as our processor under Art. 28 GDPR. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; transfers to the USA are based on this adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR). We ourselves do not merge, evaluate or pass on this log data.

4. Email

If you write to an @bicss.org address, your message is received via Cloudflare Email Routing and forwarded to a mailbox we control. We process your email address and the content of your message solely to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (responding to enquiries) or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the enquiry is directed at a membership or contractual relationship. Emails are deleted once the matter is concluded, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

5. Your rights

You have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21). To exercise these rights, contact [email protected].

6. Right to lodge a complaint

You may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit), Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin.

Version: September 2026. This policy will be updated as the project's technical setup changes.
